Citlali Castellon's Story

(Administration, Dallas/Fort Worth Office) - Citlali Castellon wears a lot of hats.

As an Administrative Employee in Datamax's Dallas/Fort Worth office, she's taken on an impressive range of responsibilities over nearly five years. But her workday is only part of the story. Outside the office, Citlali is a wife, mother to a seven-year-old daughter, and college student pursuing a bachelor's degree in social work at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Balancing a full-time career, family, and education is no small undertaking. Yet Citlali continues to embrace new challenges, develop new skills, and contribute to the department she's come to appreciate so much. For her, there's always something new to learn, and that's part of what makes the journey so rewarding.

What led me to Datamax?

Citlali's journey to Datamax began during a difficult period in her life. Following a car accident earlier that year, she found herself unemployed and searching for a new opportunity.

When she arrived at Datamax for her interview, it didn't take long for her to recognize something special about the environment.

"(The Admin manager at the time) brought in a lot of friendly charisma," Citlali recalled. "She was very kind and showed me around the building. I realized how positive the environment was. Everybody in the department got along."

That welcoming atmosphere made an immediate impression. What began as an opportunity to get back into the workforce would become nearly five years of professional growth, meaningful friendships, and a workplace where Citlali feels right at home.

My experiences at Datamax:

Citlali's first role at Datamax was as a receptionist, primarily answering customer service calls. But as she became more comfortable managing the daily call volume, her responsibilities steadily expanded.

"I started off as a receptionist, just taking customer service calls," she explained. "Eventually, once I got used to the volume of calls, they added the responsibility of collecting meters."

From there, Citlali began handling credit holds, toner orders, and invoice approvals. More recently, she's taken on additional responsibilities with AgentDealer, including approving accounts and removing duplicates, while also learning billing coordination and order entry.

Today, she's become a versatile resource within the Administrative Department, readily stepping in to help wherever needed.

For Citlali, that variety is one of the most rewarding parts of her job.

"Being here for almost five years, I've learned so many new skills," she said. "In every role there are changes. Learning new skills and adapting to new ways of doing things has been fun. You don't know what you're going to run into every day. It's learning from experience."

Interestingly, that experience also complements another important pursuit in Citlali's life. She's currently working toward her bachelor's degree in social work at the University of Texas at Arlington, with plans to graduate next May.

While social work and office technology might seem worlds apart, Citlali recognizes a common thread: understanding people and knowing how to communicate with them.

"A lot of customers get upset when their machines stop reporting or something isn't working," she explained. "It's always good to know how to de-escalate those situations. Learning how to communicate with them is a good skill to have."

It's a practical connection between her education and her daily responsibilities, one that continues to strengthen her confidence and ability to serve customers.

What makes me want to stay at Datamax?

For Citlali, the people make all the difference.

Over nearly five years, she's developed friendships that extend well beyond her immediate department, including colleagues in Service and technicians who regularly stop by the office.

"The friendships that I've built here are special," she said. "Besides just the people in my department, I've gotten to know people from Service and the service techs who stop by. It's that friendly atmosphere."

That sense of connection is something she proudly shares with others. When attending a recent employee recognition dinner, Citlali found herself answering questions about what it's like to work at Datamax.

"I tell them I work in customer service for a printer company, doing a lot of data entry, and that I work with one of the best departments in the company," she said. "We all get along and have fun, but we're still doing our job."

Outside of work and school, Citlali treasures time with her husband and seven-year-old daughter, whether they're taking walks, visiting the park, or attending car shows in Lewisville.

With graduation on the horizon and nearly five years of Datamax experience behind her, Citlali has plenty to be proud of. She's embraced new responsibilities, built lasting friendships, and discovered that the skills she's developing in one part of her life can make her even better in another.

And through it all, she's demonstrated that wearing a lot of hats can also mean finding a lot of ways to grow.
